Oliver Payne is a composer, lyricist, orchestrator and musical director for theatre. Born in Devon, he now lives and works in London. Oliver graduated from Trinity College of Music with a first classhonours degree in composition and was awarded the Alan J Kirby Prize for conducting. He was also a recent finalist for the Cameron Mackintosh Composer Scheme and has been proclaimed by Sir Mark Elder as a composer with a "real sense of bravura writing".

I teach one-to-one lessons from my home in Eltham, and I work especially with beginner and intermediate level pupils. I have experience teaching in both the UK and overseas, with adults, young people and children - including teaching drums through vibrations in a school for the deaf.

I started giving drum lessons as a private teacher in Bromley in 1997 and have taught all around the area including schools such as Bickley Park and Braeside Preparatory as well as in the local musicshop, Unisounds. For the last 12 years I have had my own teaching studio in Bromley, which means I can give lessons whenever suits me and my students as I am not restricted to school or shop hours.

At what age can I start learning guitar? With 1/2 and 3/4 size guitars easily available on the market, starting at an early age is possible. I recommend a starting age of 7 years old, as a bit ofprimary school simple arithmetic and language skills come in very handy in learning guitar easily.

Alex Cockle has been involved in music since the age of four when his father Manny taught him the harmonica. A lively and enthusiastic emphasis is always put upon the arts in general. Alex studiedclassical piano for twelve years and completed his grade eight piano exam. He was a member of the Cornwall Youth Jazz Orchestra and many well known local bands.

I began to play the guitar at the age of ten and the passion for music and a fascination with the seemingly endless possibilities of the guitar has remained with me ever since. I have now played for42 years and I am still discovering the instrument every day. My initial influences were many and varied. I consider myself fortunate to have grown up at a time when virtuoso playing was the order of the day.

We've been through a pretty extensive overhaul, as those of you who have used our old design can probably tell! We hope you'll enjoy looking around the new site where we've put up lots of informationabout the music tuition we provide, the instrumental ensembles we run and any news or events. We've also created an all new online application form for both music tuition and ensembles which should make it much easier for parents and carers of prospective students to apply.
