I have been playing the piano for over 24 years and have been teaching for more than 10 years. In addition to classical tuition, my professional experience has focused on jazz and blues performance and composition. I taught jazz piano at Southampton and Bournemouth Universities between 2005-2008 and now teach in Gloucestershire where I can offer all types of piano tuition including jazz piano as a specialist subject at all levels.

In 2006 I was awarded the Postgraduate Scholarship Award by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to study for my Masters degree in Composition at Bournemouth Media School.

As a screen composer I have recently completed private commissions for Agile films, London and the National Centre for Computer Animation, Bournemouth.

Absolute Beginners

You don’t need to be able to read music during the early stages at the piano. Whether you want to play for fun or are interested in more serious study, I can offer piano tuition across a range of styles including Jazz, Blues and Classical. I can help you to develop your music by understanding rhythm, developing listening skills, playing from memory and learning to improvise at the piano.

All of these key areas can be developed without reading a note! And whether you want to learn how to play Bach, or your favourite song, or chords that you can use in a band, contact me for an informal chat and we can discuss all these possibilities, and more.

Remember that each lesson is tailored to meet your needs. If you are interested in classical piano I can take you through the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) examinations (Grades 1-8).

For jazz and blues enthusiasts I can also offer tuition for the ABRSM Jazz examinations (Grades 1-5).
