Derek studied at Rossendale College, and has had a number of different careers, most recently as brass peripatetic tutor, covering the range of brass instruments. He is also Director of the Senior Concert Band at York Music Centre. Derek has played in, and conducted brass bands for many years in and around York and the whole North-East of England area.
