About the Business

I am very excited to be the new director at New Rhythms for Glasgow. I have worked as an arts manager for over 10 years and see this post as the ideal opportunity to combine my two areas of interest equality and creativity. Music plays an integral part in everyones lives whether we are listening to it , singing along with it, being part of it or making it ourselves. Whether it is in the background or at the forefront music is literally the soundtrack of our lives, from nursery rhymes and lullabies to reminiscence and tea dances.

The way we make and consume music is changing as technology offers up new and different ways of making, producing and sharing music and all this against a backdrop of a vibrant Glasgow music scene, a rich history of music traditions and no shortage of talented and creative individuals wanting to take part. Our challenge at NRFG is to make sure we are relevant and contemporary, that we listen to what the community wants, that we have the resources to deliver on our ambitions and that we continue to provide opportunities for everyone to express themselves through music whether that be as a participant, an artist, a tutor or an audience member.

If you have any thoughts on how you would like the organisation to develop or if you have ideas for a music project you have always wanted to do please send me an email Alison@nrfg.org.uk it would be great to hear from you.
