About the Business

Philip Milburn is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer and community musician. He uses sound, voice, rhythm and music in a holistic way to help people to express themselves, explore their creative process and build relationships. Group singing, voicework, drumming and music-making are naturally healing, and because they are playshops rather than workshops, you can relax, let go, express yourself, have fun & play with a group of kindred spirits!

Healing comes through a personal and group process of connection and self-expression, which can help you to change your energy, release old feelings, stress and mental clutter, to energise your body with breath and movement and journey to a beautiful place of stillness and inner peace. Philip’s experience of music and personal growth supports participants in developing a strong sense of achievement, the building of confidence and a wonderful feeling of well – being as part of a creative musical community. Group singing and music-making is exhilarating!

Groups are open to anyone who wants to be there and you do not need any prior experience or musical training. Come and join the fun!

Guitar Lessons

Guitar Lessons

I have been playing the guitar for 40 years and teaching for 20. I am very keen on teaching correct technique so that you can get your hands and fingers in the right place at the right time! We can be creative right from the first lesson so you learn to make your own music.

We can study the music of any popular artist and learn to follow chord charts, songbooks, and decipher music downloaded from the internet. I am open to teaching and learning any genre – it’s all music to me !

I teach lots of people who have played for a while, but have missed out on learning essential techniques and knowledge of the instrument, so we go back to the beginning so they can get a complete picture of the guitar and music in general.

Lessons For Children

Lessons For Children

For children I offer lessons which teach the fundamentals of music – essential skills and knowledge to prepare them for more specialised study later on.

It’s fun, informal, friendly and designed to encourage a love of music based on play, creativity and curiosity. Once creative music-making is established, it will always be there as a pleasure, not just another subject to study. I teach them first of all to discover their own music. They can study other people’s music later on, when their natural curiosity takes them there.

Along the way we’ll also learn basic piano, guitar and percussion technique, the fundamentals of music, a bit of reading and writing notation, songwriting and composing … and have a lot of fun ! Every child is different and I respond to each one differently.
